The Opportunity:

We’re looking to hire an awesome Senior Product Designer to establish Design as a department of the company. As a full-time, in-house superhero UX designer and product manager, this senior individual will report directly to co-founder Blain Reinkensmeyer.

Currently, Blain leads the charge on product and design, with UX design being outsourced to third-parties. Blain’s vision is to hire someone passionate and talented who can design on their own inhouse and take over the reins of the day-to-day product design roadmap. Effectively, transition Blain to a cheerleading, strategy, and general support role.

The Playground:

We have two primary product design playgrounds: our websites and our fully proprietary backend, which includes a built-from-scratch CMS and OMS. As RMG’s sole product designer, you will oversee design for both.

What You’ll Do:

Given the role and our product footprint, your top responsibilities will be UX design and product management. Effective communication, masterful organization, and seasoned visual design chops are central to success in this role.

Role day-to-day:

Wireframing and designing in Figma (or your other favorite UX design software).
Communicating (we’re big on Slack and Asana) and collaborating (Zoooomm) on various projects and assignments with… everybody! Company executives, developers, writers, editors, SEOs, project managers, and marketers.
Working with our fabulous Project Management Director to keep the wheels rolling on your design roadmap and geeking out with Blain on product vision alongside new, creative design ideas.
Crafting and executing A/B design tests that help our online broker reviews, guides, and comparison pages (1) serve the reader’s intent and (2) delight our readers.

Role responsibilities:

Serving as the company’s lead UX expert.
Leading product design initiatives (roadmap planning, product management, and stakeholder communication).
Designing new page templates and product experiences from vision to wireframes and development-ready assets.
Establishing, documenting, and maintaining RMG’s Figma-based design system and reusable UI components.
Educating staff members on design thinking methods, standards, and best practices.
Leading the charge to research new design formats, standards, trends, third-party tools, and similar.
Organizing, implementing, and analyzing A/B UX tests from start to completion.

What You’ll Need:

6+ years of overall UX design experience.
2+ years of product design experience.
Product design leadership and stakeholder communication experience.
Ample experience using design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Zeplin, or similar.
Experience running A/B tests and using a combination of data and gut intuition to make design recommendations.
Killer attention to detail and mad organizational skills.
Self-discipline and internal motivation.
The ability to work gracefully under pressure.
Must despise developers accidentally stretching, enlarging, shrinking, or otherwise breaking preset design standards.

Bonuses:

Experience using third-party platforms, tools, and services to run light qualitative user testing studies that you synthesize and share with the team.

Location and Salary Range:

This is a remote position.

Compensation: $147,000.00 - $182,000.00 per year
